In recent years, the antenna of receiving base-station has frequently met the case of tracking the satellite in L-band satellite communication system, therefore the low-profile, light-weight antennas are required. To tackle this problem, this paper proposes a design of a novel low-profile, light-weight broadband circular polarization helical antenna for L-band satellite communication.
Thus this proposed method improved tracking rate of antenna, and receiver’s sensitivity for wireless polarization.
For the proposed antenna, we improve the circular polarization performance by changing the geometrical size of parasitic patch loaded to the end of the antenna, and implement the match of input impedance by adjusting the width and length of copper strip matching stub.
The simulation clearly shows that the antenna element of array for satellite communication antenna has 3dB axial ratio bandwidth of approximately 14%,
impedance bandwidth of 17% and power gain of over 11dB. In addition, it is confirmed that the measurement leads to the similar results to the simulation.
