International Journal of Research in Engineering (P-ISSN: 2664-8776, E-ISSN: 2664-8784) is a fully open access engineering journal. Every article published by the journal is made freely and permanently available online from the day of publication — no subscription, no paywall, no registration and no institutional login.
Open access publishing means the reader pays nothing to read an engineering research paper. Any student, researcher, teacher, practising engineer or member of the public can open an article on this site, read the full text and download the PDF immediately. There is no embargo period and no delayed release: the moment a paper is published in an issue, it is public.
This also means search engines, Google Scholar and academic databases can reach the full text of every paper. For an author, that is the practical benefit of publishing in an open access engineering journal — the work is discoverable and citable from day one instead of sitting behind a subscription wall.
Authors retain the copyright of their own work. The journal does not ask authors to transfer copyright to the publisher. Published articles are distributed under a Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial (CC BY-NC) 4.0 licence, which allows anyone to copy, distribute and build upon the article for non-commercial purposes as long as the original authors and this journal are properly credited.
The exact licence deed and legal code that apply to articles published here are given on the Content Licensing Policy page. Reuse of an article for a commercial purpose is not covered by the licence and requires prior permission from the journal; charges apply in that case.
There is no submission fee to send a manuscript to this journal. Because the journal receives no governmental or non-governmental funding, the cost of manuscript formatting, the publication process and website maintenance is met through an article processing charge, payable only after a paper is accepted:
Nothing is charged to readers at any stage. Full fee details and manuscript requirements are on the Instructions for Authors page.
Authors are free to deposit their published paper in an institutional repository, a subject repository or a personal or departmental website. The journal follows the Sherpa/Romeo Green repository policy, so no permission request or waiting period is needed — an author may upload the version published here and link back to the article page on this site.
All electronic content, including the website and published manuscripts, is stored on three separate sources. One copy is live and served to readers, a second is held as a backup, and the abstracting and indexing services listed on the Indexing and Abstracting page hold article metadata independently. Every article is also kept in printed form in the society office, so the record of publication survives even if a single system fails.
Engineering research is applied work. A paper on structural behaviour, energy systems, materials, control or software design is most useful when the engineer who needs it can actually read it — often someone in industry or in an institution without a large journal subscription budget. Keeping the work open removes that barrier, which is why this journal has published every issue as open access since 2019.
For authors, open access measurably widens readership and citation potential. Articles published here are indexed in Google Scholar and registered with Crossref with a DOI, so a paper stays findable and permanently linkable years after publication.
