This paper deals with an analytical approach for determination of the relations between the feed size and the structural parameters in toothed roll crushers. A series of assumptions are made for simplicity of the consideration on the contact interactions between a feed particle and toothed rolls in the nip region of a double toothed roll crusher. Nip condition is obtained considering the equilibrium of forces as well as moments applied to the particle at the instant of biting of the particle and an expression for the maximum equivalent feed size is derived analytically. The analytical result shows good agreement compared with the feed size of the toothed roll crushers reported in the literature. The parametrical study shows that the parameters taking great effect on the feed size of toothed roll crushers are the biting depth of tooth and coefficient of friction.
